Family Counseling Services

Autism Connections coordinates counseling services with our Behavioral Services Department to provide individual and family therapy focused on the unique needs that come with an autism spectrum diagnosis (ASD) or with caring for an autistic loved one.

Services are available to children, teens, and adults with ASD, as well as siblings, parents, and other family members. Judson Center’s licensed therapists use a variety of different therapeutic approaches (including both CBT and DBT) to address the unique needs of our clients. Some of the common issues discussed in counseling include anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, coping skills, social challenges, and enhancing self-esteem. Counseling sessions are offered at both the Royal Oak and Warren locations.

Many insurance plans [link to private insurances] are accepted, and private pay rates are available.

Behavioral Consultation Support for Families

After a child or teen has completed ABA and finished their initial treatment plan, we continue to support parents through Behavioral Consults. These consultations are meant to help parents continue to build on the foundation built by ABA therapy. This continued support is led by a BCBA in the home, school, or community with active participation from parents, caregivers, teachers, support specialists and anyone in the individual’s support network.  An important goal of this phase is to guide caregivers on the individualized intervention plan so they may implement the plan outside of Judson Center.

  • Caregivers wishing to gain support in the hopes of generalizing skills acquired in Autism Connections to other environments in their child’s life.
  • Caregivers of children who are experiencing a specific behavioral issue
  • In-person meetings with the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) throughout the consultation process
  • In-home observations by the BCBA to assess the present issue and gather information to be used in treatment development
  • Creation of a consultation plan, which includes the results of the observation, and the plan for services
  • Design of an individualized behavior support plan
  • Design of an individualized reinforcement system
  • Setting-specific training of behavior or reinforcement system
  • Follow-up Support as needed
  • Potty training support
  • Independent living skills coaching
  • Individualized behavior support plan to decrease challenging behavior.
  • Reinforcement system to increase skill development and decrease challenging behavior
  • Feeding programs
  • Intensive sleep training
