Judson Center Fully Authorized by State as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic
Designation enables agency to provide integrated care to all regardless of ability to pay
Warren, MI –Human service agency Judson Center has been fully certified by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Demonstration site.
“We are overjoyed at the news. Our team has been working a long time to achieve this enhanced designation with MDHHS,” said Judson Center President & CEO Lenora Hardy-Foster. “As a result, we now look forward to expanding our integrated care services to even more clients with a mental illness or substance use disorder diagnosis, regardless of their ability to pay.”
The agency has operated an integrated care model since 2019 when it began offering primary care and behavioral healthcare services at Judson Center Health clinic in Warren in partnership with Medical Network One. One year later, Judson Center Health became a Michigan Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and received funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for mental health and substance use disorder services.
“We can’t stress enough the importance of whole person care,” said Judson Center Chief Operating Officer Susan Salhaney. “Judson Center is proud to serve people of all ages with our extraordinary integrated care treatment team and wraparound services to address behavioral, medical and social support needs. Our goal is to provide people with the support, resources and treatment interventions they need so they can achieve wellness, create their own network of support and thrive in life.”
The State of Michigan received approval to become a CCBHC Demonstration state in 2020 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the federal CARES Act. The demonstration program began in October 2021 with the goal of improving behavioral health for all Michigan residents by increasing access to high-quality care, coordinating integrated behavioral and physical healthcare, promoting the use of evidence-based practices, and establishing standardized criteria for all certified clinics.
“Michigan only has a limited number of CCBHC certified agencies, and I am proud that Judson Center is now on that list,” said Judson Center Chief Strategy Officer George Winn. “It is truly a game changer for the community and Judson Center. Our door is open to all individuals, even those who are uninsured or underinsured, the homeless population, and veterans. The Michigan CCBHC designation covers the cost of our agency’s behavioral health services and gives us the ability to create new and innovative programming to help our clients.”
