Funds will benefit agency’s foster care, adoption and mentoring services

Royal Oak, MI –Child Safe Michigan, an affiliate of human services agency Judson Center, raised more than $280,000 at its 2024 Legends of Tomorrow gala on June 7 at the Oakland Expo Center in Waterford.

The fundraiser benefits Child Safe Michigan’s foster care, adoption and mentoring services for neglected and abused children in Southeast Michigan.

“This event is extremely vital to helping Child Safe extend its reach to more children who need hope for the future,” said Judson Center President & CEO Lenora Hardy-Foster. “Judson Center is celebrating 100 years of unwavering care in the community, and the vision and mission of Child Safe is an important part of our legacy of helping children and families thrive.”

During the evening’s program, Hardy-Foster and Child Safe Michigan Board Chair Keith Pomeroy welcomed the more than 160 guests attending the event. They also thanked the many corporate, foundation and individual sponsors who provided major support for the event.

“Thanks to our generous supporters, Child Safe Michigan successfully arranged 195 foster care placements, helped 159 children find adoptive families, and matched 40 youth in foster care with mentors last year,” said Pomeroy. “We are so proud to have been able to remove some of the barriers that prevent children from reaching their full potential.”

The 2024 Legends of Tomorrow gala co-chairs are Child Safe Michigan Board Member David Grossman and Julie Adelson, both of Franklin, MI.  Retired Child Safe Michigan founder, Elizabeth Brazilian, was in attendance, along with Judson Center and Child Safe board members. A highlight of the evening’s program was a moving testimonial from Mario Talerico about how Child Safe has guided him along his journey of becoming a foster parent to navigating the adoption process.

Guests enjoyed a delicious strolling dinner, desserts, live auction, raffle, and an afterglow with dancing and Motown entertainment.
